Dr. Marc Seigar has been an entrepreneurial academic leader for more than a decade. He is currently the Dean of the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics and a Professor of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Toledo. The College has an enrollment of ~1000 undergraduate and ~250 graduate (Master's and PhD) students. There are five academic departments offering 25 degree programs and ~125 full-time faculty. Research averages about $22 million per year in extramural grants.

Before becoming a Dean at the University of Toledo, Dr. Seigar served as a Program Director in the Division of Astronomical Sciences at the National Science Foundation, as Associate Dean of the Swenson College of Science and Engineering, and as the Head of the Department of Physics & Astronomy at the University of Minnesota Duluth. His research is focused on the structure, morphology and dynamics of galaxies and their dark matter halos and the nature of the dark matter particle.
Our research uses data collected at several ground-based and space-based facilities, including the following:
4.3-m Lowell Discovery Telescope
Kitt Peak National Observatory
We are involved in the following projects:

The Arkansas Galaxy Evolution Survey (AGES)
The Rubin Observatory (formerly LSST)
The H-alpha Galaxy Survey (HaGS)
The SCUBA HAlf Degree Extragalactic Survey (SHADES)
